Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)

Portable appliance testing is a process in which electrical appliances are routinely checked for safety.

We provide a reliable Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) service using fully qualified testers with up to date PAT equipment. All PAT Testing is carried out to the IEE code of practice for in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment standards, also fully documented and recorded test results are supplied.

PAT – or Portable Appliance Testing – is a combined visual and electrical check carried out by our experienced technicians, to make sure electrical appliances are safe to use.

We carry out a visual check, looking for everything from cracks or flaws in casing or insulation, to loose screws inside the plug.

We then use market-leading equipment to carry out an internal check on the electrical appliance.Only when we are satisfied the appliance is safe, will we apply a ‘passed safety check’ sticker.

Once we have inspected, tested and certified it, you will have the confidence you have done everything to make sure the appliance is safe.

Typical/ Estimated Pricing of P.A.T

It will cost around £70 for the first 10 items tested, then for any items after the first 10 until the 50th item will be £2.50 each, and subsequently from the 50th to 100th item it will cost £1.50 per item.

Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR)

An EICR is an electrical safety test to determine, whether the installation is in a satisfactory condition for continued service. They are a method of ensuring you meet: The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 which is statutory, meaning it is the law.

The IET Wiring Regulations BS 7671, which sets the standard for electrical installations in the UK, recommends the following:

Business Owners – should have an EICR test once every five years.

Landlords – should also have an EICR test once every 5 years, or when there is a change of tenancy.

Typical/ Estimated Pricing of an E.I.C.R

There are a lot of variables when estimating prices, however you can expect to pay between £15-£35 per circuit depending on access, the state of the installation, if the test needs to take place out of hours and environmentally the type of the building.
